Watchmen - Drawing Dr Manhattan's Symbol [by Karthik Abhiram]

I am working on a drawing based on "Watchmen" - this has a simple concept - that of Dr Manhattan looking at the old photograph in his hands and behind, you have the picture of Dr Jon Osterman and Janey Slater.

For the drawing, I didn't want to go purely by the comic-book look or the look in the upcoming movie. I did the shading realistically to some extent.

Anyway, this part is where I drew the Hydrogen atom on Dr Manhattan's forehead.

People think that it's a hydrogen atom... But wrong!

- This ancient symbol exist before the invention of an atom. It's kinda "Mandala", "Watch" or an "Eye" (like Ra's eye). The orbit line represents the eternity and the small dot on it is the intersection of the "beginning" and the "end". And the bigger dot represents "Ego" or "I". So it means: I'm eternal, and I'm the center of eternity, everything is one and single. I'm the "God" like everyone else... Everything is equal, eternal and GOD!
