Thanks to mobile phone technology Villagers in Musingini village in Masinga constituency will no longer trek for long distances in search of water. The project which was funded by PLAN International, was made possible through technical assistance from Grundos Lifelink.

Through Solar Energy, Water is pumped from a 110 Metres deep borehole into a tank from where it is relayed into a machine where residents draw the water using a water key.Through the water key, one is able to load money through M-PESA.

By inserting the key into the machine, you are able to key in the amount of money you plan to spend. The machine then reads the amount and releases water depending on the amount requested.
