Anna, W0ANT, is in 5th grade and enjoys amateur radio contesting and DX'ing. The 8 element LPDA bt Tennadyne, the T-8, view www.tennadyne.com for additional information. My name is Paul Veal, N0AH. I have been licensed since 1995 and have built a number of antennas over the years. That said, a roof tower is quite complicated and takes many professionals to insure a safe install for your specific QTH. Please consult with a professional engineer. This tower is also set for a 30-160M sloper which is currently not in use as it effects the MA160M vertical due to proximity issues. I used a stack of Tennadyne T-6 LPDA's in WY for a number of years. They took a lot of abuse from mother nature. Tennadyne has our highest recommendation. 73 es gud DX. de W0ANT and N0AH DM79nn See qrz.com for further information. We operate with 100 watts. We do not use amplifiers as we live in a very dense suburban neighborhood. One correction...the boom is 18 feet, not 50 feet as mentioned in the photo with the boom truck!!! We wish it was 50 feet!!!!!!

  • Yagis, with traps, have high Q's. LDPA's, without traps, are designed to receive and transmit somewhat equally within the frequency range of the antenna, thus, it also picks up all the ambient noise between these limits. The bandpass filter eliminates signals being received outside the intended band filter range and shakes off unwanted noise, (or RF), not intended to be received at the time. Go to general receive on a LDPA, turn on the filter, and dial around-you'll hear the sharp cut off-

  • Paul Nice to see a T-8 on youtube, but way does the T-8 receive more ambient noise than a yagi? How does a bandpass filter eliminate or attenuate ambient noise?

  • Now I know why my TV, clock radio and toaster keep cherping Norway Zero Alpha Hotel all the time!! hahahaha NICE VIDEO BROTHER PAUL!
