Omar's original voice actor was Greg Salata, but he was dubbed over by Paul Le Mat for the U.S. version because MGM did not like Salata's voice.

Which voice do you like better? Personally, I like both and don't find one particularly better than the other. Salata gives Omar a cockier personality while Le Mat makes him sound a bit more brooding. I guess it just depends how you like your Omar.

  • Interesting. Omar's original voice sounds creepy but still cracks me up! Could you upload the original cut?

  • I could upload more parts of it. I can't upload the entire movie. Any parts you want to see in particular?

  • I prefer how Greg sounded but I prefer Paul's attitude a bit more, overall I still prefer Greg's and hhnnng~....I FREAKING LOVE OMAR!

  • I like le mat better. Has more character and personality~

  • le mat's voice is more of a street rat type it matches with omar's look

  • Definatly Paul Le Mat salata makes him sound like he's a big shot but i dont think that matches one: Omar's appearance two: How Omar is to be mean and rude but not a full fledged city guy!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • And another thing, we all know how much of a cocky asshole Omar is. Le Mat sounds too much of a nice, kid friendly guy, while Salata makes Omar sound like the jerk he is!

  • Oh gosh, Salata's voice is just perfect for Omar, and Omar's singing voice. Le Mat's voice sounds far too slow, as Sarentis noted, even slower than The Lion King 2, only difference is I love TLK2. I think Le Mat's voice is just too slow and annoying, and Salata's voice is perfect for Omar, to me. Once I saw the Canadian version I preferred Omar's original voice over his American voice. And again, as Sarentis said. "Aaannngeeelll!" right before she sings is so.. annoying!

  • mmmm, i like le mat more. not sure why tho..

  • They should have kept in the dick nose insult the dog breath one is to childish especially for a dick like Omar.

  • What bothered me the most with Le Mat's voice was how slow and drawn out the voice seemed to sound and how it usually didn't sync with the mouth animations. It feels like he had to force himself to try and match up.

Salata absolutely fits with his tone and sync, his voice flows more naturally. I'm used to Le Mat and I like the older tone but I find I prefer what was meant to go with the movie in the first place. Le Mat's sloow lines right before Angel sings at the end have always bugged me.

  • Dang, the old one was sorta hammier.
