Joy Division was an English rock band that formed in 1976 in Salford, Greater Manchester. With their dark, cavernous sound and use of synthesizers and electronics, they pioneered the post-punk sound of the late 1970s and the early 1980s. The band dissolved in May 1980 after the suicide of its lead singer, Ian Curtis. The remaining members reformed as New Order and went on to achieve much critical and commercial success.

  • @Imbettersilent And this really hurts me! I would love to fall in love with one of these bands, to find some new, fresh formation which would conquer my heart - and I can't. Even the works of Jack White, which I should get crazy about (the blues!) repel me, because I can't stand his vocals. Actually,I just realised that it's not the music that I dislike the most with these new bands - it's the vocal part. They all sound alike - as I said, either whiney or overly enthusiastic.Well, my bad. Peace :)

  • @Imbettersilent Led Zeppelin is actually my favourite band of all times, I also love Black Sabbath, Iggy Pop is also quite good. And I don't really see any resemblance at all between the 60' - 70' classic rock bands and all the new so called indie bands (except for the fact that they all use guitars). I can't help it - they all sound neurotic or/and stupidly jolly to me, like stereotypical "rebell rich kids". Even if the background denies it. Well, just not my type of music.
