  • Really marvelous, wonderful Scarlatti playing, especially K. 456. It is this kind of performance that makes the strongest argument for playing Scarlatti on the piano as well as the harpsichord. I am positive Scalatti would have wholeheartedly embraced the modern concert grand with its almost infinite nuance and color possibilities. If he'd had a nine-foot Steinway at his disposal

    he woud have turned his harpsichord into firewood.
