  • My 45 of this has a slightly different arrangement, with the organ more prominent, and playing a different part during the instrumental break....was this recorded from the Sue CD box set?

  • I have two mp3s, one grainy one I used with my monstor cable straight from the vinyl and one from the CD, I used the clearer of the two, probably is the CD cut.

  • Hi Breadmaker,

Have you seen my short video on Lovelace?

It's on You Tube & entitled "Looking for Lovelace." I have all of his albums and 45s. Thanks for posting this! Molly Norris

  • yes, it is very interesting, your dedication to him is heart warming. Peter said you had some unissued materials by him? is this true? or did I musunderstand him?

  • Can't understand why he did not get more exposure in th U.S.

Did his records simply not sell? What a loss.

  • Some many reasons my friend. The record industry is driven by what makes a quick buck, which, in most cases, leaves the best recordings in the can

  • saw Lovelace in London. Such a lovely man. Classy and a gentleman.

Absolutely wonderful voice. Such a great showman!

Wish I had his albums. Can anyone tell me how I can get hold of them?

  • @showmesoul I had the Demo copy of this. and it sounds the same to me, a litle bit light maybe, as Lovelace has a much richer voice than is coming out , but SUE did alter a fair amount of their tunes between issue and demo... Derek Martin for example

  • Yes, lance007lance, that's the version I was talking about. I'm assuming this version is the stereo or LP mix, while the one with the more prominent organ break and the extra lyrics at the end is the 45 single version. Remember, back in the 50's and 60's, it was a singles market, and the hits were broadcast in mono over AM radio stations. Thus, all the time and money went into mixing the mono 45 singles, NOT stereo LP cuts. The stereo LP version was often a different take, and not as good.

  • @showmesoul , are you talking about the one- Lovelace Watkins - Dreams.wmv that @piloterec uploaded at /watch?v=fjCwmhOwB04 . It seems faster and the organ is more prominent and at the end of the song you can hear the words ........Always every night my love. Vert interesting

  • WOnderful Sue Magic!! :))

  • carl carlton was actually the invento or popcorn, that orville redenbacker dude is a fraud!

  • I remember Lovelace Watkins used to always be on Stars on Sunday when I were a nipper. He used to have a magnificent processed/bleached Ilya Kuriakin hair-do. His vocal stylings obviously owe a bit to Billy Eckstine. Nice record.

  • Absolutely fantastic track.

    Thanks
