Allen Iverson Highlight vs Kings 03/04 NBA *Dunk over Mike Bibby

Even with a healthy shoulder and a full complement of teammates, Allen Iverson wouldn't have liked the Philadelphia 76ers' chances in Sacramento.

Peja Stojakovic scored 28 points, and Bobby Jackson had 18 as the Sacramento Kings beat the 76ers for the sixth straight time, 100-89 Friday night.

Iverson had 27 points and seven assists after straining his shoulder during practice Thursday. Though he wasn't announced in the starting lineup until shortly before game time, the three-time NBA scoring champion played 46 minutes -- and was jeered for nearly every second, particularly after his five airballs.

"Sacramento is the hardest place to play," Iverson said. "The crowd gets on the refs, gets into the game, and it's just crazy. You get kind of frustrated, but it's part of the game. They were just better than us."

Iverson went 10-of-23 and made six turnovers as Philadelphia struggled to shoot consistently in the opener of a three-game West Coast road trip. The Sixers were short-handed even before Iverson's injury: Glenn Robinson missed the second game of a three-game suspension for his conviction on charges of domestic assault and battery.

Mike Bibby had 16 points and five assists for the Kings, who maintained a healthy lead throughout the second half of their 19th straight home victory against Eastern Conference teams. Sacramento beat Cleveland in its season opener Wednesday night.

"Philadelphia is a scrappy team, and with Allen on the court, they just keep coming," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We could never separate from them. I was proud of the guys for sticking with it and keeping that lead."

Stojakovic had his second straight big game as the Kings' first option on offense in the absence of Chris Webber, who's out until December while recovering from offseason knee surgery.

Stojakovic scored 10 points in the third quarter -- and after Philadelphia pulled within eight points in the final minute, Stojakovic hit a clinching 3-pointer with 18 seconds left.

Jackson also had another big game, hitting three 3-pointers -- including a long one to end the first quarter in dramatic fashion. Jackson often guarded Iverson, and the matchup of two of the NBA's mightiest mites was the most entertaining part of the game.

"He's one of the best there is, but we had too much for them," Jackson said. "It's always great to go up against the best in the business. We both got our shots in there, and I think he got me a couple of times, but I'll take the win."

Kenny Thomas had 19 points for Philadelphia, which lost for the first time under new coach Randy Ayers.

Iverson seemed more frustrated with his teammates' lack of movement than his sore shoulder. After throwing up a last-ditch airball in the third quarter, Iverson shrugged angrily toward his bench at Ayers, who spent the past six seasons as Larry Brown's assistant.

"Any game without (Robinson) is going to be tough, because that's the scoring punch that we always needed, always wanted," Iverson said. "By the same token, it's good ... because it makes other guys step up."

John Salmons struggled in Robinson's spot in the starting lineup, going 2-of-8 from the field. After Stojakovic burned Salmons for several baskets in the first half, the Sixers used a variety of alternate defenses against the two-time All-Star.

Brad Miller had 11 points and nine rebounds for the Kings, and Darius Songaila had eight points as an effective substitute in his second NBA game.

Iverson, who's barely 6 feet, threw down a one-handed dunk with 2:42 to play. He wore a heavy wrap on the shoulder after the game, but he expects to play Saturday night against Golden State. "I'm not injured," he said. "It's like running on a sprained ankle. You're always going to feel it." ... Hundreds of fans wore costumes, and the Kings showed video of several players in Halloween garb on the scoreboard. Bibby got the biggest laughs for his Boy Scout uniform. ... Stojakovic limped to the bench after turning his left ankle in the third quarter, but stayed in the game. Stojakovic missed most of the 2001 playoffs with a sprained ankle, and he hurt it again during the European Championship last summer.

thanx penny. that`s my dude. it`s really irritating when you know someone can still seriously ball like crazy but he doesnt have a team to start the season while other players undraft-worthy keep bouncing from one organization to the next.

still have faith that I will be able to watch my fav player in the nba despite the nba`s obvious spite towards AI during his entire career.
