I bought this guitar in the mid 90's. It's a Japanese Reissue of the classic 1969 Fender Mustang. These were preferred by Kurt Cobain and he usually dropped a humbucker in the bridge for a thicker sound. The stickers were from when I was younger and totally take away from how awesome the Sonic Blue finish is, one of Fender's coolest colors. The video is chopped up to fit into YouTube's time limits. The only mod made to this guitar was the replacement of the bridge pickup in favor for a hotter Red Fender Lace Sensor. Enjoy the vid!

  • the pick ups can only be out of phase with each other, if one pick up is off, than no matter where the other pick up selector is, there is nothing for it to be out of phase with... for example: if the bridge pick up is off it doesn't matter what on position the neck is in, its the same sound either way.

  • @michaeltullo yeah I figured this out later, I should put some comments in the video to disregard my whole explanation. Those damn sliders can be confusing as hell.

  • how many guitars do you have?

    and what is your favorite??

  • @1995nothingtodo let's see, including acoustics and one bass, I have a total of 9. My favorite is prob. my Road Worn Strat, but I'm still searching for my perfect guitar.

  • super-informative, thanks :)

  • @WarlikeSRK hey honestly the new Kurt Cobain lefty's are freakin' awesome guitars. I'd get one in a heartbeat, they have all the preferable mods already done for you. Quiet honestly, any guitar could be a blues guitar, it's all in how YOU use it. I've played blues on a Mustang before and it sounds good, Johnny Winter started out on one from what I know.

  • @ia5662

Is this guitar suited for more bluesy playing (John mayer, SRV, that kind of songs)? Recently fender released the same guitars except as a kurt cobain version (practically the same except for some other humbuckers I think) and I can only buy one guitar and as such I would like an allround guitar that can play both (indie)rock and blues stuff. It sucks to be lefthanded but I'm glad this guitar is now available!

  • @tingly7654321 well you coulda just asked me that! I honestly think it's 10 X better without stickers and have since peeled and heated them off slowly so it's got the original paint job. It's that middle school punk thing that most kids like to do and of course I ended up regretting it, but it looked cool at the time. Plus, I wasn't going for Kurt's look per-say. He actually stickered the crap out of many of his Strats, just not the Mustang.

  • @ia5662 not trolling why would you want to put companys stickers on a guitar? if this guitar was preferred by kurt cobain i think thats a bit ironic

  • @tingly7654321 thanks a lot TROLL. Do yourself a favor and keep it moving unless you have something positive to say, your channel comments say it all bro.
