ARP Odyssey MKI 2800 White Face. This is the first version of the ARP Odyssey. The main difference between this version and the MKII and MKII is the filter. The Odyssey 2800 has a 12db/Oct filter and later versions ( MKII and MKIII ) have 24db/Oct filter

  • Hi I was wondering if you could tell me your opinion of the synth restore sliders that you have replaced this Odyssey with. I have a white face also but have read mixed reviews on the quality of the synth restore sliders.

Do you feel that they are well built? do they track properly or even better than the originals? and do they fit exactly as they should on the PCB and through the front panel.

I am just trying to get a better Idea so I can order a set of them.

    Thanks

  • @jebeq2007 It's supposed that these sliders are made with the same specs than the originals. They doesn't seem to be worst than originals ones but I don't know how they will be with the time, in 30 years I will tell you ;) . The main difference with the originals is that the metal part that keep the slider fixed to the pcb is shorter and you can't bend it on over the pcb like the originals. The new sliders are expensive but are worhtwile to buy then, your odyssey will be more playable.

  • @Thalassa77 and program a sound will me more easy. The other option is to clean the old sliders , open them , and clean them inside, put lubricant... I've made both things ( change and clean ) and I have to tell you that clean the sliders is a long and tedious process. Also think that if you change them you will have the old ones as future replacement.

  • This little Devil should be illegal to own.. !

I mean, Lets face it, if someone asked to borrow this Synth & your Car, you would part with your Car b4 you pass this thing on!

    ..Er.. Can I borrow this?

  • @therealKINDLE I have to say no..... but only because it's not mine :P

  • Wow I love the sound of this...... Odyessy....

  • Good demo, but if I may though, this synth is duophonic and it is one of his most interesting features, ...sounds beautiful with 2 keys in...rather

  • Thank you for the demo. I try to find the sounds on my White face. I recorded a CD some years ago. You can listen to it. It's here on youtube. Blablamatic 01 is the titel. Cheers.

  • Jon Lord used a ARP Odyssey back in the 70's

  • beautiful synth-me want

  • Best demo of the Odyssey I have seen to far, thanks

  • I think Synthrestore have fitted 3 sets of new sliders into odysseys i owned, as far as i know the new owners have no issues, ive a whiteface 2800 at synthrestore now jun 2011 awaiting a new set and ive got still 1 of each model odyssey to have new sliders.
