55 years before my time.. sad, isn't it? Everything that I like was before both mine and my parent's time. I have absolutely nothing in common with anyone my age at all. But I don't care- I'm contented with being able look back and enjoy all these treasures of the past, and I thank God they're still out there and alive in the hearts of those who still appreciate them.

Mrs. Van Hopper is a total bitch--but a funny campy one. The actress should have gotten a Academy Award nom.

Um, how was Joan Fontaine's character supposed to have been to forward with Mr.De Winter? Mrs. Van Harper saying that makes me want to re-read the book to check if she said that.

Damn! You said the same things I feel and think about things of the past. I am so picky with music, books, tv series and films of today because I love the stuff of the past so much. Like you said thank God they are still out here and alive for us to see it.

Sir Laurence is so handsome that it seems almost unreal! He had the talent as an actor to go with it, too:)

Compare to the opening sequence of The Haunting, directed by Robert Wise, & behold the ethereal mists in monochrome once more!

I've had the book sitting in the cupboard for the past 25 years...never bothered to pick it up until someone mentioned it...it's a good read...I'm at Chapter 26...near the end...so don't email me the ending or you will be blocked...and I'll watch the ending of the movie AFTER I finished reading the book!!
