I bought a 24 volt panel, damaged in transit. Glass is crazed. Its rated 200watt. I needed 12v for my controller so i devided the panel into half and tapped into the positive and negative for both now seperate sides.in theory now two 100 watt panels about 8 amps but have never got more than 2 or 3 amps out each sides. Ok damaged but seems coincidental. Cells are 6x6. Both open circuit read around 16v. Can 6x6 cells for a 24v panel be different to a 12v panel?

You must know what or how many watts per m2 you are receiving If all the panels are rated at 1000watts/m2 and you are only getting 500 then the out put will be half the rating of the panel
I bought 6x6 Multi-Cryatalline solar cells that are supposed to be 4 watts, .5 volts and 8 amps. But when I measure the amps using multimeter the highest I ever get for amps is 3.5, even when sun is highest in the sky. Is this normal to get only half amps when measuring solar cells with meter or are these no good and I should return them? Anyone know?
I have a 250 watt panel and the junction box has been removed leaving only four silver band strands. Which one is the positive and which is the negative
This is an excellent video.
