Steve Harvey visits CRP Future Pilots Flight School

Some 100 boys being raised without fathers got perhaps their first look at what it takes to be a pilot -- and some life-changing advice on how to make their own dreams come true from entertainer Steve Harvey, who was hosted by American Airlines over Fathers Day weekend.

The boys, attending the first ever Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend at his Dallas ranch, visited the C.R.P. Future Pilots Flight School, which is sponsored by the airline. The school, based at Executive Airport in Dallas, teaches at-risk children in the Dallas and Tarrant county school systems to become pilots and aircraft mechanics.

Every nationality on this earth does for their own - By exposing their children to ALL THINGS THAT ARE POSSIBLE through private clubs, father/son orgs, college visits, fraternity/business events, etc. Many Black kids ARE NOT EXPOSED to BLACK PILOTS/BUSINESSMEN/DOCTORS, etc. BTW: Most AFRICAN AMERICANS ARE NOT IN PRISON! The msg should be: Black MEN father YOUR children - raise them to GRADUATE HS/COLLEGE - expose them to career opportunities !

What a wonderful program. Having the opportunity to experience aviation early in life is so meaningful. Your consciencious efforts to bring aviation career opportunities to under-priviledged Black children brings tears to my eyes. Thank you American Airlines!

@jksn008 One year later the program was scrapped. Over 90% of blacks failed the training or just dropped out. LOL Unbelievable. Look it up on google. It was in late 90's or early 2000. LOL What a joke... As for going back to Europe, I'm planning on leaving by next year. Had enough of this crap. Believe me, I wish I could leave today. And by the way, I'm writing here about the MAJORITY of blacks, not all. One of the coolest CFIs I flew with happened to be black. I'd say, one in a million.

@jksn008 It just pisses you off that I'm right. Deep inside you know it. I lived in US for 29 years. Worked for Delta for almost 10. I remember when Delta came out with a flight training program for its employees. They pay the flight training and all you have to do is fly for 6 years, for a commuter codesharing with delta. I flipped. I felt like I won the lotto, as I only had my private at the time. Then I found out that program is for blacks only.

Lastly I applaud steve for taking a stand for OUR communities not making any apologies and using our own resources to effect change, And to all the whites and others on here support your own neighborhoods and make an informed decision to help.
