Today's Legend: The hidden Mew under the truck.
For generations, rumors have been spread about a secret Pokemon available in Pokemon Red and Blue. Are they true?
Just in case you can't hear me:
Pokemon, one of the leading RPG franchises of today, has spanned over 5 generations, as well as countless spin-offs like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and PokePark: Pikachu's Adventure. But today, we're going back in time: to the original Red and Blue version for the GameBoy Color. On September 8th, 1998, Pokemon Red and Blue were unleashed into the United States. They set the standard for what RPG games at that time should be like. But some people must have been good observers, because they found a secret which has become the most famous Pokemon Legend of all time.
We all know of the S. S. Anne, that giant ship filled with sailors armed with Magikarp and Poliwags. We also know that you can only get the HM Surf by getting to the end of the SS Anne. But there is a trick to finding a great Video Game Legend. By trading a Pokemon who already knows Surf from another game, you can go to the screen where you board the ship and surf to the right of the ship, eventually reaching an island as shown on the screen.
There is a lone pickup truck on the island. Legend states that if you use HM Strength to push the truck, the legendary Pokemon, Mew, is underneath. After hearing the rumors, players scurried over their game maps to find out if this mysterious legend was true. The general public says it's not. We have video evidence.
As you can see, using HM Strength did nothing to move the truck, and neither did trying to use the Key Card. So, if you can't move the truck, how do you find Mew? It's simple. You don't. The only way you could obtain Mew was from special Pokemon Giveaway events or through hacking. The first game you could really get Mew in was My Pokemon Ranch for the Nintendo Wii......10 years after Red and Blue came out in America. While this episode is about the Mew Truck, we will give you a tip on how to glitch your way to finding Mew.
You need to have a Pokemon that knows HM Fly or TM Teleport. Approach a trainer and walk into their line of sight. Quickly, before you're detected, use Fly or Teleport to run away. This changes some number value in the game's coding, and it starts a battle with a Wild Mew.
So, is the "Mew Truck Legend" fact or fiction?
It's FICTION.
This is definitely an interesting series!
