It's called "show business" for a reason. Performers want to get paid for doing what they love just like any other type of worker. Van Gogh only sold one painting in his lifetime for the equivalent of $80.00! No artist of ANY type does what they do with the desire to stay poor! If Reed and Dylan,et. al. truly wanted to remain starving artists, they would go unpaid for their work while their labels and promoters get even richer from the fruits of their labors. As it is, the commercials are gravy.
