Preview of the 2007 E Pili Kakou DVD set recorded in Sacramento May 25-27, 2007. The complete 13 DVD set is available at www.reddogrecords.com
This preview features scenes from the entire weekend including a warm-up dances by Kumu Maka Herrod and a variety of participants, classes by Kumu Sonny Ching, Kumu Auntie Kealoha Kalama, Kumu Tuti Kanahele and Kumu Mike Kop, on-stage evening performances of the dances learned in the workshops, the Sunday Kukakuka, Television interviews, and behind the scenes footage.
The complete DVD set includes 18 classes (over 30 hours) from these renown Kumus: Blaine Kia, Sonny Ching, Tuti Kanahele, Ku`ualohanui Kaulia, Vaihere Doudoute, Kealoha Kalama, Keala Ching, Maka Herrod, and Mike Kop.
Plus included is each day's opening ceremony and tribute to Kumu Kawaikapuokalani Hewett (2007 Honoree), evening Ho`olaule`a and Ho`ike, and Sunday Kukakuka session.
We also included behind the scenes footage and over an hour of great Hawaiian music played by the band when warming up for each session. These warm-up sessions include dances by individual attendees and Sacramento Halaus including the Ladies of Ka Waikahe Lani Malie, the Men of Kahulaliwai, and Aloha Polynesia.   • Awesome! I can't believe how much stuff is on this DVD set! How many classes in all and how long are they?

  • There are a total of 18 classes with most of the Kumus teaching 2 different classes. Kumu Blaine Kia and Kumu Mike Kop each teach one, while Kumu Tuti Kanahele teaches 4 language classes. Most workshops run between 1.5 to 2 hours. The crafts class is edited down to about 40 minutes, but shows each step of the process...
