This is one of those games that I rented at least 20 times as a kid until I finally found a cheap used copy. I always loved exploring in the game but hated it when Id run out of lives. There was a ridiculously long code to get infinite lives and restock potions that I actually memorized at one point due to entering it so much. I can gladly say that I have managed to beat the game without it, but never have I scored a 100% without

This was always my favorite nintendo game.

I first saw this game when I was 6, My Grandma used to play it until the arthritis hit, the very first thing I remember she did was die on perpose and the "AHH" was so funny.

"And the jump wail the potionly. And the noising hear, it's the sound of Shadax dying. That's a noise whole makes today I die. Sega! Solstice! Frustrating!"

@TasBoot, Solstice has some outstanding music for sure. Tim Follin, the game's composer, is one of the best in the business. I'd say the music is top 5 all time, maybe higher. It varies for me depending on my mood.

I used to be scared as hell when I was a kid playing this game. The music was creepy, the goons were creepy, and the sound you make when you die was haunting.

Been trying to get into this game lately but it just pisses me off to no end. Graphics are great, but the controls are fucked, and there's too much jumping precision required with too high a consequence. Hate games like that.
Thumbs up if you think the NES is the best damn console of all time.....Damn those were the day of hardcore gaming.

Quality review! Did you say 'hardly' recommend it, or 'highly' recommend it?!! Never completed it or found everything as a kid but with the help of a walkthrough and an emulator did it a few years back. Such a quality game, cult status!
