Part 4 of a 7-part series with Dr. Eugenie C. Scott: Science, Religion, and Evolutionary Theory.
Dr. Scott discusses the history of creationism/intelligent design, which was revived in the United States in the 1960s. Some conservative Christians believe that teaching evolution in schools represents a challenge to religion and God. Similarly, the belief still exists that humans and dinosaurs were created at the same time.
Recorded at the 'Biology of Genomes' meeting at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, June 1, 2009.

  • @megaead69 They will no longer be Christians but yes anyone can. Evolution denies the essence of Christianity which is the redemption and also the creation of God.

For how long 'science' says all life forms have been evolving? And in genesis how long does God says He made everything (ACCORDING TO ITS KIND?) evolution says there is no purpose no hope no wrong, right evil or good, and what does the bible has to say about all those things?

You are undeniably mistaken. They are extremely opposite

  • GOD did and does it all for the ZioNazis because god is an acronym for:

Guns, Oil & Drugs, Thou shall not kill except for god.

  • Whoops... not THE original kind, AN original kind. There are many. Ex: Dog kind. Original kind split into foxes, wolves, jackals, coyotes and others. There are red and silver foxes, gray and red wolves. Once domesticated, many breeds ensued. But ALL ARE DOGS. Unsurprisingly, the fossil record yields no precursor to the dog "kind." Same is true for cats, sauropods, clams etc. YES sometimes genetic drift causes sterility barriers among daughter species of the same kind (horse- zebra- donkey).

  • What a massive straw man deception - and I think she knows it. What she describes is not special creation. It is "everything came into existence yesterday and all our memories are an illusion." Nobody denies natural selection, the debate is over the starting point. Genesis teaches creation according to kinds. This means change over time can occur but when the original kind is found, there will be no precursor. Just like everything we find in the fossil record from armadillos to trilobites.

  • You don't say? The whole motivation for Huxley to become "Darwin's bulldog" was that he recognized that the account of how sin and death came to the human race was a lynchpin of Christian belief... and if that were undermined, the whole idea of a Savior coming to Earth to provide forgiveness for sin becomes a non sequitur.

Then there is the whole problem with Darwinian theory and there complete inability to demonstrate abiogenesis - not only that it is plausible, but that it actually happened.

  • @daniloorbolato Christians can accept evolution.

  • @megaead69 The distinction between the two is in its least as east and west. They will never be on the same place.

You cannot believe in God and at the same time Evolution. Because one is the denial of the other.

Or haven't you read genesis and the papers on evolution? How can you say you can accept both?

  • Christians can believe evolution.. Watch "Did Darwin Kill God?"

  • The Father of Intellegent Science were Flint Stone Cartoon admirers. When Intellegent Design Idea had been introduce they rejoiced and shouted Yabi-Dabi-Doo

  • @orangemod Exactly. :)
