13 Jun 2009 - Stravinsky's Petrushka
Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra @ Hong Kong Cultural Centre
Condcutor: Lü Jia
"Lü Jia directed a tremendous performance of music from Stravinsky's ballet score, Petrushka. The fact that it was faultlessly executed was only the root of its success. In the absence of physical spectacle, colour is paramount: it's there but delivering it in the right proportions throughout the 35 minutes is the trick that Lü pulled off with aplomb. The orchestra supported him, with many fine solo contributions." Sam Olluver, South China Morning Post
