West Texas School In Pyote Closes

Tuesday was the last official day for the West Texas State School in Pyote.

The last student was transferred to another facility on Friday.

The Texas Youth Commission offered transfers to all employees.

They tell us only seven chose to transfer to three other facilities in Giddings, Evins, and Brownwood.

A small handful of employees will stay on at the school to maintain the property and building, while the landowner, UT Lands, shows it to prospective buyers.
