Victorian England saw a resurgence of Enlightenment thought; an attempt to scientifically reason why things as they are. This song deals with the supernatural because the otherworldly cannot be explained by empiricism; they are faith-based, subjective concepts. This song confronts the uncanny that overarches from the Victorian to the present, as the narrator attempts to comprehend the unknown through a variety of subjects: ghosts, witches, and God.
P.s., I enjoy this song too much. : )

I've never been on their concert because i live in the countryside, but i think it would be a magical feeling to hear all those people singing "la lalalala la lé" in the arena along with Coldplay!
