Recent conflicts in the Caucasus and Central Asia have taken the U.S. by surprise because this important region is often overlooked, said top U.S. experts at a panel discussion hosted by Eurasia Foundation on February 3, 2011 in Washington, D.C. Here Dr. Fiona Hill of Brookings Institution looks at the need for international engagement in Central Asia, which she says has too often been "nobody's backyard".
