National level Judoka and MMA veteran Joel Gerson demonstrates a throw that is both beautiful and useful when going against a stiff armed opponent in a BJJ match. Usually in Judo, practitioners are penalized for being too stiff armed because it is stalling and it is too defensive. This "yoko tomoe nage" is a nifty solution of the situation.

  • I have a serious complaint about this: There isn't more of it. Great stuff. It's good to see proper judo teachings being brought into BJJ. More please!

  • More Joel Gerson please!!

  • Lol! He's with Carlos Newton.Ka Me Ha Me Haaaaaaaa!!

  • You know, in my experience BJJ guys only have a said interest in Judo but not enough of an interest to practice it regularly. I hope that's not the case at this school because Mr. Gerson is a fantastic teacher. I've not witnesses this first hand but only from a smattering of videos on YouTube. Most Judo teachers show a move one or twice and say, "Go and try it" without covering the details like Mr. Gerson does. Well done. Rei.
