  • The Plasma vs LCD argument is mute, Plasma is by far the superior technology in it's colour reproduction, contrast levels, and motion handling.

People who prefer LCD need to get their eyesight checked.

Also 720P vs 1080P if you have 42 inch screen and sit 5 to 6 feet distance you cannot tell the difference in picture quality the argument is a distraction from the truth.

  • morale of the story: it all looks the same on youtube...

  • Plasma tvs are the best you can get, my 51" samsung 720p plasma wipes the floor with my 40" 1080p lcd

The colour is better, brighter, true blacks, and new models dont suffer from screen burn, lcd on the other hand is poor in comparison.

  • i thnk lcd z gud...

  • Resolution is all relative. On a 32"/37", you dont need full HD. 40 and above yes. LCD is flawed technology. I have a Panasonic TX-32LMD70 LCD in my bedroom. Its get terrible backlight bleed in the corners. My TH-37PX80 plasma, doesnt. The Pioneer kuro PDP5090 and KRP500A are widely regarded worldwide as the best TV's in the world, even after 12 months of ceased production. Yes kids, theyre plasmas. And anyone who says LCD is better for gaming...... Never heard of input lag??

  • @bigpaul3060 bull shit there is a world of difference in picture quality from 720p to 1080p

  • Point of view from somebody that uses his 42'' LG Plasma screen as a computer screen.

I play World of Warcraft a lot. About 12 hours long on Saturdays. The bars on the game stay at the same place, and I dont get burn-ins. There is no blur, and the quality is excellent. On my friends LG LCD it sucks. Does not look near as good. Why do you buy a plasma or LCD? For power consumption? Or for quality of viewing. All goods on plasma for viewing. Power and weight to lcd. Yeah. I am going to carry it.

  • OBVIOUS DIFFERENCE. It's like comparing a Trinitron CRT to any "gamer" LCD made today for motion resolution. Freeze a frame on the LCD and you will see the afterimage blurring. It's disgusting and makes me wish plasma was available in computer monitor sizes.

  • PC gaming 24 inch or below LCD due to resolution and FPS issues. Home theatre 42+ inch plus plasma. Bedroom TV 32-37 inch LCD. Console gaming 32-42 inch LCD/Plasma

  • That would be true if 'colour reproduction, contrast levels, and motion handling' were the only criteria.

Besides cost, power consumption, weight, heat, etc. people now spend more time on the net or gaming than they do watching TV. This makes resolution and brightness more important than for pure home-theatre.

On my 46" I can see the difference between 720P and 1080P. All I need to do is 'pause', look at a longer still, or try reading credit text and the difference is obvious.
