Good song. So many of our younger kids that are adults think that just because we are old, we can't function. I'm 66 yrs old and my wife and I been married for over 40 years. Love this song because young people need to know that old folks can always take care of the loved ones and grands. Amen

I am a jazz musician, and I am taken with your comments regarding "Old Folks" and your sentiment about your former elderly neighbor. Your thoughts are poetic and touching. As a result, I will record "Old Folks" on my next C.D. It is a beautiful tune. Listen to Keith Jarrett play it on his "Standards in Norway" C.D...heartbreaking. On the next Mother's Day, look for any elderly woman who is alone, and give her flowers and a hug. -Dennis Edwards Music

lovely
Thank you for posting this. Irony being a slight-of-hand player, the elderly woman across the hall: with squeaky walker keeping me up, and hallway smells I'd prefer not to describe escaping from a partially kept open door, was taken away while I was gone for seven days. Now that I see her unoccupied windows open, I miss her aggravating ways...To that end, it makes me a hypocrite for not being kinder.

A commentary for anyone who escapes an unfortunate, early demise: yes, this song will apply to you. In a sudden stoke of epiphany YOU WILL GET OLD! Then what? Well, here is a truth: make peace with those you've offended...apologize. Stop the harassment of your own soul and go to quietness...
