  • Where did you get the sheet music for this? :D

  • Gary freely hands it out - people have apparently been e-mailing him for it, though I found it off of a fileserver. :) Gary let me put it on my website, so you can also find it there, now, at dragonwarden[dot]com/music and just go to one of the Cohen links.

  • Wonderful work. Really. Just beautiful. I showed this to my friend who plays in the Syracuse Symphony and he was amazed.

Does, anyone, by chance know the name to the piece?

  • Thank you! Have you heard the original recording yet? Now *that* is an amazing bit of finger-work. :P Hopefully I'll be close to it by the time I give up. I'll make another recording at day 20 or 25 and see where I'm at by then.

The song is called "Cohen's Masterpiece" (or Cohen's Scherzo No. 7 as labeled by the composer) by Garry Schyman. It is one of the pieces on the soundtrack of the game Bioshock.

  • Oh yeah. I'm a huge BioShock fan. Cohen was one of my favorites. :D

Never knew the actual name of the piece until now. That piano scene still gives me a good chill.

Haven't heard the original yet. But I'm going too! Do they have an actual soundtrack for BioShock yet or just the 3 song disc that came with the Collector's Edition?

  • Oh, sorry! I thought you had absolutely no idea what it was, not that you just wanted to know what the official title is. :)

Yes and kinda. From what I read while tracking down the sheet music, there's an official soundtrack that was released (which was released for free), but it doesn't contain any of the 60's and other older-age music. Those songs were available in various places, but I don't remember if people ripped them from the game, or if they were in another version of the soundtrack.

  • kinda creepy to play this when its dark outside and you are alone at home :D

  • i'm assuming by day 14, you meen every hour of thoses days, becuase this is a beastly difficult song, so is Welcome To Rapture on the Violin.

  • the guy in the games

wint boom she did not go boom

  • anyone knows a link for the piano notes ?

    i want to learn it

  • This was when she was still learning it, so she probably skipped that bit since it's quite difficult relative to the rest of the piece. Some people learn certain runs in the piece first, and leave other parts for later.

  • @ 0:32, why have you skipped a part?!

  • btw, she isn't playing very fast.

  • exercise.... ive quit piano 4 years ago and have recently starting to learn Cohen's Masterpiece. The most difficult part is to have the patience to exercise. It's like a sport.
