  • thanks man good explanation

  • if i were to partition my external hard drive would i be able to use half for my mac and half for my PC?

  • thanks a lot

  • I experience some troubleshooting when doing this...

I have a 400 GB usb external hard-drive with files already saved on it, and I want to make a partition within it.

So when I open up disc utility, selects the main source and hits partition and set volume scheme to current, the "blue area" showing space available does not appear and I can't click on the (+) sign to add a volume/partition. What's wrong?

The current format is MS-DOS (fat)... do I need to reformat it? And if so, will I lose files?

  • thanks man
