In this video tutorial, Adam shows you how to use Mac's built in "Disk Utility" to partition an External Hard Drive, as well as internal and flash drives.
I experience some troubleshooting when doing this...
I have a 400 GB usb external hard-drive with files already saved on it, and I want to make a partition within it.
So when I open up disc utility, selects the main source and hits partition and set volume scheme to current, the "blue area" showing space available does not appear and I can't click on the (+) sign to add a volume/partition. What's wrong?
The current format is MS-DOS (fat)... do I need to reformat it? And if so, will I lose files?
thanks man good explanation
