i have from new (1995) and old media 100 nubus sistem working fine with a raid,,believeme i maked a tv comercial last week,, if you want to buy this legacy pearl contac to me,, is a museum piece,,working of course,,
media 100 is the greatest bullshit, i ever worked with. the rendertime is slow.
the editing mode unconfortable. and every time you put a video track above "videotrack 1" it needs to be rendered ...i hate that .,..it feels like an working in a stone age... or ice age... one plus point is the "media 100 codec" but else media 100 is a nightmare in fast video editing
I'm going to be buying a Media 100 system soon. It even runs on the MacBook. Easy to use and powerful with great audio features as well. I threw together a 50 minute concert video from old tapes within a week, during the trial period. Just playing with a Macbook at restaurants. Easy to learn new features. The only thing it lacks is the small and antialiased rendering options that even iMovie has. I master to DV files and then put out the final product using iMovie. It works great.
I've been out of video for some years now. Have some old Media 100s gathering dust. Recently downloaded the trial version of Media 100 (2009). This video was about Nubus Versions. The new software is of course more powerful, yet just as easy to use. Basic ease of use features are still there. I can now edit multiple clips (camera angles at once) which I wanted and requested back in 1998. 11 years for Media 100 to deliver multiclip, they now have an even better product.
Man, I miss this system. Boris FX and Graffiti were great programs too. Don't get me wrong, Final Cut Pro is an amazing editing program, the best out there in my opinion - but I wouldn't be where I am today with Media 100. I used to have Media 100i, but when OS X came out, I quickly found out Final Cut was the way to go - but I will never forget this system and miss it even to this day.
