@ThePrototype4 The long flatfooted step followed by a short last step will inherently reduce your speed a little, which is why athletes go for a "push- pull-plant," but in either case, you must reduce your speed a little to set up for a jump with good height (which is necessary for a good long jump).

@dLuzN The penultimate step of a long jump is a long, flatfooted step followed by a short last step that drops your hip height and sets the angle for your jump. More advanced athletes typically shoot for a "push- pull-plant." Go ahead and look that one up yourself. Anyways, my point is that lower levels simply teach running off the board, which is fine for athletes learning the basics. The key to LJ is to drop the hips enough to make the jump biomechanically set up, w/o reducing speed too much.

@dLuzN that doesnt make you sound stupid at all, it actually makes me think you are probably very intelligent since you ignored the foolish pride part of debating and focused on what you actually believe to be correct. What sounds stupid are the kids that argue endlessly on here and resort to name calling when they have nothing else to say lmao

@PowerSprinter this is gonna make me sound stupid, but his last few steps are actually him stuttering.. ignore my last comment i was wrong. He stutters on his last few steps instead of running off the board because he cant control the speed into the board.
