Siesta is a rather unusual love story kind of film clad in Miles Davis haunting music score. Marcus Miller has also put his stamp and Ellen Barkin is simply superb. A sight for sore eyes. So is Gabriel Byrne for the ladies I would think. This is part 8 and I hope I will upload the rest of the film soon.

  • This movie is an absolute masterpice! Unfotunately, only few people know it!

  • Well, my friend, you are not alone! Thanks for the comment.

  • Thank you for posting, my friend!

It was in 1990 I visited the video store in my fatherland Bulgaria and found it offered as a "thriller"!?! Anyway, the name of Miles Davis and some of the actors prompted me that this could hardly be a typical "thriller" and I borrowed it. It took me immediately, becoming one of my favourites.

  • Funny enough I was listening to the music yesterday with a friend. New speakers and we had to enjoy them at the maximum. Siesta is always the haunting music that was ever since we heard it for the first time ...

  • augustine tell me. if it wasnt her been killed, if it was me..why do i still feel such love

  • Exactly that my friend. The entire film compressed in this short phrase. Makes me feel nice that people still notice these things ...

  • saw it when it was new, so many times that I finally bought it. Then I bought the soundtrack, then the book...and I am still talking about it today January 28, 2011. This is one early film that reached into the metaphysical repeatedly; I agree it is summed up in Claire's comment, "why do I still feel such love".. wasn't that why she had the 3 days' "siesta" to review her actions and arrive at a moral decision that ultimately leads her into the light? Bravo to all who feel similarly. Bravo Siesta

  • Great film and music. Not for masses...

  • I loved this film. It's sort of very sophisticated "Carnival of Souls" in a fashion. The Davis score really makes it work when the budget falls short here and there, as do the performances by Barkin, Sands and the rest. Interesting that her death process is informed by her feeling 'guilt' for something all the way though, when it is she who has been killed. Of course, her guilt over having 'sold out' commercially drives this. A very underrated film.

  • very nice !

  • @lolitadrame

it is so deep and profound....

  • hei my friend.could you upload the rest part of this film...i love ellen barkin~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dont see the movie , but davies and miller two stars

  • fantastic film, a favorite for sure... Thank you for posting !

  • I saw the film when it came out in 1987. I was fresh

of a LSD trip a few weeks before. The film

Blew me away in sync with the trip.

Just found out today that Patrice Chaplin

(Charles niece) wrote the book. I am off to

Purchase her Two books "The Portal"

and City of Secrets. Both based on her personal experiences in Spain.

    Wow what a find.
