As her husband and son watched in horror from a distance, Marjorie Venditti, of Chester, N.H., a 46-year-old mother of five with no previous piloting experience, flew her family's single-seat, ultralight plane into the roof of a Windham home yesterday afternoon, before crashing next to a home under construction.

  • Wouldn't have happened if she would have stayed in the KITCHEN

  • What moron allowed this woman to take to the air? And did they not have a radio?? She was obviously not prepared for this. My first solo was perhaps the best flight I ever made. I was completely at ease having the instructor unass the a/c and let me do my thing. This woman...just damn. Stay in the kitchen!

  • Darwin in action.

  • She probably freaked-out ,..lost sense of direction and can't find where she started ,...Very confusing ,...snow all over and land marks gone...

  • The man told her to turn, more than once. Told her, "no!" Some folks just don't listen.

  • Found the NTSB report it was her plane she bought it and tried to fly it she was non certified pilot and it was unregistered. The county charged with criminal mischief and reckless conduct.

  • So it looks as if the aircraft can only fit one person and someone who owned the ultralight was letting others fly it. I'm assuming after some sort of ground training maybe he explained it to her how to fly it thinking it was easy. Most of these aircraft if you you just throttle back they will just float back down and land I don't think it stalled just had no place to land otherwise if she stalled at 100 feet up it would have been a fatality probably landed then ran into that house.

  • This woman is not in cause: she dont' realy known what she doing (usband say it: "it's easy to fly no problem" or not?...) , but theyr usband was a realy idiot to let she flying alone without training...

  • @Velotracer

You know nothing about ultralights: most of them have near 2x BETTER climb rate as a curent Cessna because the power to weight is much better!

    Stop to say stupidities!

    From a ultralight pilot

  • @Velotracer So a Cessna 172, one of the most popular airplanes built in the last century with a climb rate of 700 fpm would be considered what? Really really low climb rate? Noob, stick with what you know best. I have been flying ultralights and light planes for over 20 years. One the best features of ultralights is their impressive climb rates.

  • @genogeno1234 ... Exaclty.! compared to other planes, ultra lights have a low climb rate. It's primarily because of the weight limit of 254lbs. They just cant have an ultra powerful, and therefor heavier, engine.

  • Poor thing...glad she is ok. I like her sense of adventure but hope she learns from this mishap. Please dear, get well and don't give up. Get instruction and keep going up...
