I remember hearing about this ending in the book about Shadows of the Empire; not the comic or the novel, but the 'Making of" book.

@unleashthestars They would retcon it, erase the existence of Dash, and have Luke and Vader fight with Vader loosing.

When I was a kid, I had a hard enough time playing this on easy that I didn't bother trying to unlock the extended ending, much less face IG-88 on medium or hard, so I never knew what happened to Dash until now.

I can just imagine Dash having a good drink about this sometime after.
Yeah I knew he was alive after finding Wookiepedia, but back then when I just beat the game and read the novel, I felt massively cheated.
