Harlem Nocturne, composed by Earl Hagen & Dick Rogers in 1939, is a great, sultry jazz tune. I'm experimenting with a new tune, a new style, a new beret, and new voices (literally) on the Roland 7x V-Accordion. I donned some dark glasses to put me in the mood, but I guess it takes more than sunglasses to make a jazz player.

Roland 7x Settings:
Bass = Acoustic Bass
Chord = Acoustic Accordion
Treble
Solo Sax
Acoustic Accordion French Jazz Bassoon Reed
JazzScat/JazzDoos Voices

  • WOW !

    ... being one of those "old-fashioned accordion purists" (those who prefer playing the real, handmade reeds)...

    I had to favorit this performance. I can only congratulate to your artistic high-level playing and interpretation of this song - far away from "artificial sound" - absolutely perfect in mood, timing and expression. You are a master. I love your playing and ability to express !

    This is perfect art !

  • Thanks very much. Your own music is impeccable and a treat to my ears.

  • Richard,quale amplificazione usi ? Sei collegato ad un mixer? Thancks.Piero.

  • Piero,

    These are entirely the onboard sounds of the 7x. I don't use a mixer or an external amp for the youtubes--in fact, this youtube was recorded directly to the Roland's internal USB stick. Sometimes on a gig I use a small but powerful amp, but usually none is needed.

  • Man Richard you are an inspiration. Amazing interpretation. This certainly showcases some of what you and the FR7x can do. Love the different voices and improvisation. Hope you do more jazz pieces .Even though it is generally not my favorite style I could be convinced.....Sig

  • Glad to hear from you, Sig. Hope you and the 7x are doing well.
