2009 Roar of the Rings - Hebert dumps on heavy draw

Team Martin lead, Ben Hebert, makes a questionable sweeping decision in the final round-robin game vs. Team Howard at the 2009 Canadian Curling Trials in Edmonton.

When you sweep, you are creating a track that the rocks run between. But by not completing your stroke, the rock strikes the frost build up and either A) picks AND slows down or B) just slows down. In this case, the rock was heavy, and Ben wanted to rock to slow down... Lucky for him, it didn't pick that much to wreck the guard but rather just enough and slow it down.

I can't believe how many people are saying Hebert didn't do anything, are you kidding me? It was so obvious the rock caught something because it went sideways. Did you people not watch the video? Hebert is one of the best sweepers in the world, so he obviously knew what he was doing. It doesn't matter if the shot wasn't perfect, it was still cheating. That's why I was so disgusted when Martin's team won the trails, because they cheated to win this game. Some of you people are fucking idiots!

Hebert lifts in front of the rock because he knows Martin is going deep. Watch Hebert normally sweep he always lifts when he is at his side of the rock out of the slide path. You can see it grabs a little too right after he lifts his broom.

It wouldn't of mattered if he had not lifted up because the rock was already to heavy. It went to far back anyway. Richard is just a retard who just wants to win and over react. Everybody makes mistakes. Even the pro's. GO TEAM MARTIN. - I love Team Martin! And John Morris is my favourite!-

Glenn Howard curls a great game and rich had every right to flip out straight up with a hair broom is un called for. Ben is at a level that he should know and make mistakes like that I find that whole team to be sneaky.quite cocky as well. One day Kevin will leave those boys and retire then what will they do? They will be done. Fun fact: did u know John and Craig played together in juniors!
