Haha, loved the fact that y'all caught up with each other after goin different directions! And i think the person in that SUV had no idea what to do cause there was firetrucks on one side and a police car on the other. But they sorta moved after the first went by!

are you a fire man becues i am looking for a job am 29 yers olde i want to be a fire man
-
nice driving @ 3:04..lol
-
the engine that went out first was flooring it at 30 seconds
-
@newfoundking Yup as long as the job gets done. ya we only got like 10 ppl on pager for Highway Rescue, but there's a few ppl that could be given pagers cause they're around a lot. so maybe 13ppl by the new year.

@JrSAR101 Yeah, that's the main reason why not all fire departments use this, is mainly due to man power. Some volunteer companies are lucky to get one driver, let alone two, so usually you'll see volunteer companies have quints, and combination vehicles, since they don't have the luxuary of getting several drivers for each unit. It's a shame sometimes, but I guess each department makes the best they can with what they have, and as long as they get the job done, that's what matters!

@newfoundking i see. ya we're lucky to get five on our rescue truck for MVAs. Well that's all we do is provide Vehicle extracation through our Search and Rescue society, we respone to the MVAs outside of the FDs call area.

@JrSAR101 Most departments have what's called a light force, which is sending both ladder and pumper to a scene, that way, allowing for full amounts of equipment to arrive on scene, whereas a quint or something similar sacrifies something in order to have all these functions. A light force doesn't, it jjust sends two vehicles instead. LAFD does this among many others

why is there two trucks on one MVA... we run just 5 guys in one truck if we're lucky!
-
@firemandave334 well why did a ladder respond? and why a pump why not a heavy rescue
Is it policy that if there are two apparatus that one must go a different direction? Or is that just something random the driver did?

Just something the pump driver did. It's difficult for the ladder to make the turn the way the pump went, so that is why we go the other way, normally the pump would too. Guess he didn't feel like it though

why did one truck go one way, and the other went another way?

Read previous comments for better, My truck wont make the turn if there is traffic, so we go another way, why the pump wants to go that way is beyond me.

The engine establishes command?! I see the roof of a duty officer's vehicle. Why didnt he/she call the command?
MettaFireRescue 3 years ago
The roof that you are seeing belongs to the supervisor for the local ambulance service. Excluding patient care they have no command authority over the scene. You can't see it because of the angle and fog, but directly across the intersection is one of our old firehouses that was being used as a training center. So there was a Lt who was teaching a candidate class on scene. Why he didn't who knows. You know how those folks in training are. lol
