@LuisVuiton Many Europeans would be afraid to drive through Romania for the same reason. It's really unfounded to be afraid, because statistically you're no more likely to get killed there, than anywhere in Europe.
While South Africa is the most violent African country, there's more violent crime in the UK. Finland is also high in the statistics... ;)

One of the best books I have ever read, did a trip to Timbuktu on a motorcycle and had such similier experiences as Jeroen, that this book could have been written about my trip. Inspired I now drive a Merc C180.

As a recent newbie to 1984 Mercedes 300 TD, this book arrived at my door over the last weekend and I couldn't let out of my hands.
Now delima begins - should I drive Benz or take a bus /train as Paul Theroux did.....Dark Star Safari...

I just finished reading your book a few minutes ago. It was fantastic. It's inspired me to buy an old Merc 190 D and drive down to Western Africa one day.
