Indeed. You really have to start at Richard II go through all the Henry's and then end up at Richard III. Eight plays! Wagner's Ring may have great music but the drama never even comes close to Shakespeare.

This is the absolute dogs bollocks. The Henry VI trilogy may be crude by the standards of Shakespeare's later work, but it still blows away just about every other example of English Renaissance drama from its time. And this version is scorching. This scene is possibly the one that made Shakespeare famous - it's the one that his envious colleague Robert Greene chose to parody when attacking him (obviously in the belief that his readers would recognise it). Bernard Hill is unforgettable.
