Soft Machine is not easily accessible to people. They are easy to dismiss as "self indulgent" until you spend the time to listen a few times and begin to comprehend the staggering genius of what they were doing.

It's that unmentionable voodoo of some music - I dismiss critics and always go with what I feel. I have read critic reviews of Soft Machine (and other bands) and they tend to marginilize music by album or consecutive statement released.

I think early Soft Machine and early PF were an igniting flame to German experimental rock.

Fragile, Yes and Close to the Edge are easily my favorite works by them, and Fragile is doubtlessly amazing, Roundabout doesn't get old.
