I studied under Kai and Bamba Phillips for years there was a guy named Tiger Brown who was also a Black belt he was the fastest guy I had ever seen he was awesome he left to go to the Navy after High School. the 3 of them had some super Breaking skills.
I knew sensei Koda well and got to meet katsuoh at the airport when he arrived in montgomery, al. To the poster of this vid i would like to get the full version of this video I used to have it on one of the vhs training movies and it would mean a lot to me since we have all lost a great sensei in 97. I have yet to have the priveledge to train under David yet, but I intend to do so as soon as I'm back in Alabama. Anyways, I hope Shiji and Jun are doing well.
i was a green belt in1983. i won a kumite 3rd place when i was 10 years old. he was at a tournament at bb comer high school. he broke an aluminum baseball bat with his shin.also gary whats his name knocked out high flying dr j in the fighting tournament it was funny! yoshukai taught me disipline!randy caine my instructor.
Sensei Yamamoto hope your doing well old friend-I have not seen Paul Calligan since I got sick in Birmingham AL. I remember the picture of all of us in Jasper, Alabama USA. I still have it..
HaI! I have rare footage of Katsuo Yamamoto Sensei doing Kata, Kobudo, with Yuki Koda Sensei bending an aluminum bat from circa: 1986. Also have footage of Jack Swift, Mike Culbreth, Mile foster, etc... Osu!
Very cool. Blast from the past. I used to also study at the same dojo many years back. Still at Ebsen's? When Master Yamamoto came and visited, it was just in the standard gi, not with the blue jacket. But it's been a while.
