  • @egokick Men and women voluntarily signed up because they believed the lies from Mr. Bush about 9/11, WMD and all the other crap shoved down Americans throats by the MSM and government. They also did not know how rigorously they were going to be brainwashed once they signed on the dotted line. My father served in WWII; Pearl Harbor. Until his death at the age of 79, his nightmares only intensified. The war never ended for him or his friends. My heart goes out to these men and women.

  • Because this guy is horrible at target aquisition doesn't mean all men on the ground were. Maybe he should have been a cook instead of infantry.

  • that was great! props to him for standing up for whats right

Oh, oh. Okay, I see what you mean now. Ron Paul 2012 :)

  • @hXcDiedWithHitler The free market can protect from a LOT of things, but not from foreign governments' exploitation by dumping chemicals in Somalia. And you have so much war between the tribes and there's no unity BECAUSE of the vacuum left by the lack of central government which would protect the country's sovereignty and defend it against interference of the market. Ron Paul 2012 :-D

  • @apell711

Notably, these mini-governments regulate economic activity far less, leading to some better economic results than their neighbours, but they are just as bad or worse in violating human rights and in jeopardizing people's safety through war. Clearly, this is no libertarian paradise.

  • @apell711 Either way, we libertarians think there is a lot more government than there should be-in the West, and in Somalia, too. That country's many small, regional governments ruled by local warlords are better than neighbouring central governments in some ways, but worse in others.

  • @apell711

A free market with a central government protecting it is, by definition, not a free market at all. Truly free markets protect and regulate themselves without government intervention at all. So Somalia does have a free market. However, comparing Somalia to industrialized countries such as the US is just silly.
