At just a tad under 9 minutes I know it's a bit long, but no-one will ever know if you don't listen to all of it. I recorded another version about a year ago. It is such a powerful song I wanted to do it again.

This is take 4. Take 1 was best, but it had terrible distortion. In take 2 I had a coughing fit. I inexplicably sang the same verse twice in take 3. So this is take 4.

Dylan first sang it 46 years ago, in 1963. What a different place the world was back then. The politicians were just as crazy and people had a real fear of "the bomb". The world had come to the brink of destruction the previous year. The majority of the population at the time had lived through World War II and many who survived World War I were also still alive. It was a simpler, and in some ways, a better time. And the music was fab.

  • Dylan could write a 9 minute song worth listening to, and Ken can play & sing it well enough to make the 9 minutes seem too short.

    Gave me goosebumps.

  • @wknightm Thanks again.

  • I write screenplays I mean, not music, and I have this specific story in mind that this song just sums up beautifully, I should have been more specific ... that's how I write, im inspired by music and it just stays in my mind as I write... not important... anyway, good tidings to you my friend :-)

  • @KenMiddletonUkulele I really mean it, I heard you play this a year or so ago and it's a hauntingly beautiful song Ken. I am a writer, and you inspire me to work harder at what I do (this song in my mind as I write).

Many thanks to you too from the bottom of my heart.

  • @wknightm Thanks.

  • Stunning

  • @DesecrationSmile52 Thanks for listening.
