This was absolutely great of Obama to do. He should be taking strong stances like this on the side of labor. But him being on the line in this video is entirely at odds with his hiring of Chicago School economists for his economic policy team. It's these fools who are pushing free trade agreements and anti-union policies and are screwing over the middle- and working-class! Check out Naomi Klein's article in The Nation, "Obama's Chicago Boys."

I think that Obama doesn't know a thing about how the economy works. Oh it's always the evil corporations that are screwing the worker. Artificially raising wages is not the answer, because workers only get paid based off of what they produce for the company. If you don't like your wage improve your human capital and produce more of something that people desire. Why doesn't he take a look at the main culprit for rising prices, (government inflation).

I think your opinion comes from a lack of understanding of the economy; no offense meant. Not everyone can get those better paying jobs, because we can't have everyone at the top. With no one to do the grunt work, nothing gets done. That being said, saying "find a higher paying job" to fix the problem is pretty much like looking at a group of people in the ocean and saying "yeah, we know seventy of you are drowning, but we decided to bring a boat that only seats six."

I've noticed a trend in this country among the corporations. As far as they are concerned, if a product isn't making millions in profit, it's not worth selling. There is only so much money out there, and with such an incredible amount going to corporate profit, the little guys get squeezed.

What people don't realize is that we are poor so that they can be rich. If we were no longer poor, they would no longer be rich. Those with wealth will do anything to prevent that from happening, and I'm not even sure anyone would benefit if it did happen. But it's nothing that will be resolved in any of our lifetimes...unless it resolves catastrophically, and to no one's benefit.

How about those who vote Obama go to the next war :)Obama, I am not voting for you anymore, you sound just like Bush with this war talk and the world has had enough I hope... America if you vote for Obama you are approving this war. Getting out of Iraq won't fix it instantly.

This is more than whining, jimmyjok... Obama is trying to break the system that perpetuates low wages for these people...

And as far as better education for higher paying jobs, good luck paying for college tuition under Bush's economy making $8 an hour...
