So... A 19 year old, with the mental age of an 11 year old, who also didn't pull the trigger?! Should have hung for the crime HE didn't commit?!
I don't find that fair.. Christopher Craig should have been hung. He was the one who murdered the police officer, he was the one with the gun.. But instead serves 10 years in prison. I don't see justice in that!
Yes Derek was there.. But really?! He should have died for something he didn't do?!
How could you ever work that out! X

personall everyone goes on about how innocent bentley supposingly was he still Went with Christopher Craig to do a robbery and both had weapons so the simple solution would be to have executed both Craig and Bentley personally i agree with the original verdict

Thanks for this clip which is a great summary of this case. It took so long to clear Derek Bentley because the Home Office was responsible for both the execution and the later so-called inquiries. Kenneth Clarke should hang his head in shame. A disgraceful episode and a shocking miscarriage of justice. RIP Derek Bentley and his long suffering family.

@GuildfordGhost Don't worry, and I didn't forget. Its a pleasure to meet you again, Fairly, and such a relief to hear that you managed to resolve everything with Jane. I was really worried.

The presenter is clearly for Bentley - usually presenters try to be a bit - to the middle as they deliver copy .- but this fellow makes his opinion plenty known with his delivery tone alone
I appreciate how that presenter's contempt for this story is louder than his tie.

@jane3eyre Not seen this for a while - do you mean he's for or against Bentley?

@GuildfordGhost If you have contempt for something then you consider it worthless, uninteresting or inappropriate. I'm sure Jane knew what she meant by her comment, but I think his tie is ace.

@nicholasthetaylor Hi - I am fairly erudite, you know! I know what 'contempt' means! My question was relating to the context of the statement (which has now reached resolution). There was ambiguity in Jane's statement and I wanted clarification on whether she meant the presenter had contempt for the legal process or contempt for Bentley. I shall remain neutral on passing judgement on the tie.
