Elvis Presley - Long Black Limousine

Recorded: 1969/01/13, first released on "From Elvis in Memphis"
(Words & Music: Vern Stovall / Bobby George)

Lyrics:
There's a long line of mourners
Driving down our little street
Their fancy cars are such a sight to see, oh yea
They're all rich friends who knew you in the scene
And now they've finally brought you
Brought you home to me

When you left you know you told me
That some day you'd be returnin'
In a fancy car, all the town to see, oh yea,
Well now everyone is watching you
You finally had your dream, yea
You're ridin' in a long black limousine

You know the papers told of how you lost your life, oh yea
The party, the party and the fatal crash that night
Well the race along the highway, oh the curve you didn't see
When you're riding in that long black limousine

Through tear filled eyes I watch as you pass by oh yea
A chauffeur, a chauffeur at the wheel dressed up so fine
Well I'll never, I'll never love another
Oh my heart, all my dreams yea, they're with you
In that long black limousine

Yea, yea, they're with you in that long black limousine
Yea, yea, they're with you in that long black limousine

  • Elvis was and still is the greatest singer and entertainer of all time. He sings with feeling and from the heart no matter what the song is. The covers Elvis sang......he made it his own. Love you Elvis. You Rock big time. You may have left the building......but you have not left our hearts. Elvis is still TCB <3<3.

  • BEST VOICE EVER.

  • @TrueLight55 Hogwash to an uneducated buffoon, maybe. Quoting his "entourage", leeches who have fed on Elvis' corpse since before he even died, is the ultimate sign of someone who doesn't know what he was talking about.

Read 'Careless Love' by the great Peter Guralnick to see that Dries did INDEED work Elvis to death.

He locked the man into Vegas to pay his gambling debts, you simpleton.

  • @ElvisMan35 Wow you have glorified and amplified all the lore, originated by who? You are just being very silly. Several members of his entourage say Elvis seriously considered touring (The Col being a non-issue) but because Elvis carried drugs and guns it didn't seems very feasible. Also his schedule was always packed..he was always touring or doing Vegas shows. His own best friend states Elvis was miserable if he wasn't working..the lore that The Col worked him to death is hogwash

  • @favre16 No doubt.

  • Best gifted and fuckin entertainer EVER!

  • @TrueLight55 Tom Parker being an illegal alien was the ONLY reason Elvis never toured worldwide. Guns can be shipped, and having a doctor on your payroll made drugs a non-issue as well. Tom Parker threatened to RUIN anyone who put "ideas" in Elvis' head. The last one to successfully do this was Steve Binder in 1968, which was also the LAST TIME Elvis came close to firing Dries von Kuijk, AKA "Colonel" Tom Parker.
