Sarah Palin has declared that the "mama Grizzlies" are taking over the Republican party, and newspapers have seized on the meme of Republican women as if they're an undiscovered species. But is there anything new about this year's crop of conservative female candidates, and is there something the Democrats aren't grabbing, an opportunity missed?
Joining us to discuss are two veteran political journalists who've spent years watching right-wing women as well as their progressive counterparts: Rebecca Traister, senior writer at Salon and author of the new book Big Girls Don't Cry: The Election that Changed Everything for American Women, and Betsy Reed, executive editor at The Nation and co-editor of Going Rouge: Sarah Palin, An American Nightmare.
Feminism as it has stood for years has not only excluded conservative women from it's 'club', it has made many mistakes. In order to see your potential, feminism tells us to compare ourselves to men. Feminism has looked down on the 'stay at home mom' and has pushed women into area and things that they may not have origionally wanted. Mama Grizzlies are taking it back and embracing femininity. Something that many feminists do not enjoy doing.

Rebecca said there was a low turn out in the O'Donnell race, that is not true. People turned out in record numbers!!
Feminism is being redefined and conservative women are standing up and saying, we can have kids, have a voice in politics, wear pink and we don't have to feel bad about it. We don't need abortions to advance our career because we are real women, strong women who can do it all.
