The Vanderbilt University forum focuses on the congressional Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, programs of interest that may be at risk for budget cuts, and potential outcomes of these negotiations. The panelists also discuss advocacy strategies by institutions of higher education and academic medical centers to prevent harmful cuts. The keynote speakers are Christina West, assistant vice chancellor for federal relations at Vanderbilt, and Kevin Cain, director of federal relations, health and biomedical sciences at Vanderbilt. Beth Fortune, Vanderbilt vice chancellor for public affairs, moderates.
