A fragile, anxious boy, 12-year-old Oskar is regularly bullied by his stronger classmates but never strikes back. The lonely boys wish for a friend seems to come true when he meets Eli, also 12, who moves in next door to him with her father. A pale, serious young girl, she only comes out at night and doesnt seem affected by the freezing temperatures. Coinciding with Elis arrival is a series of inexplicable disappearances and murders. One man is found tied to a tree, another frozen in the lake, a woman bitten in the neck. Blood seems to be the common denominator - and for an introverted boy like Oskar, who is fascinated by gruesome stories, it doesnt take long before he figures out that Eli is a vampire. But by now a subtle romance has blossomed between Oskar and Eli, and she gives him the strength to fight back against his aggressors. Oskar becomes increasingly aware of the tragic, inhuman dimension of Elis plight, but cannot bring himself to forsake her. Frozen forever in a twelve-year-olds body, with all the burgeoning feelings and confused emotions of a young adolescent, Eli knows that she can only continue to live if she keeps on moving. But when Oskar faces his darkest hour, Eli returns to defend him the only way she can Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson weaves friendship, rejection and loyalty into a disturbing and darkly atmospheric, yet poetic and unexpectedly tender tableau of adolescence. LET THE RIGHT ONE IN is based on the best-selling novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

  • Twilight can't even sit next to this one.

Twilight is a "movie" for teenage girls, to go see while at the mall.

Let the Right one In is a "FILM". And a fucking fantastic one. The story is better, the performances are better, the underlying commentary is more important.

If you like Twilight thats ok with me. If you wanna see a real film, one with intellectual and real artistic qualities..watch Let the Right One In.

    oh look..skittles.

  • those kids are great actors! The little girl scared the crap out of me!

  • @grimoriumveritas Not everyone buys into the "Hollywood" crap! The book and movie are both great.

  • It also explores the narrow space between the connotations of the term "monster" on Eli's and Hakan's characters. Comparisons with twilight are made since there are vampires involved it is sad to think that the american remake is going to become the main reference, but if people buys crap, there is no problem the world is plenty of it.

  • People should really read the paperback first, this is not a typical platonic love story, but people make assumptions based on their paradigmatic knowledge of the topic, the genre it self is a polluted environment by common, ordinary ideas. the story is about honesty, it's easy to notice this once illutions fade away and Eli's character is presented in its real dimention (platonic love is related to appereances), it also contains an elemental sense of justice (to fight back).

  • Love the movie, haven't read the book, but want to very much..

Let the right one in VS Twilight = TWILIGHT SUCKS!!

  • Best swedish movie/book i know about = D (anything is better than twilight xD )

  • WOAH! THIS IS BETTER THAN TWILIGHT

  • WOW twilight stinks compared to this.

this is more realistic than twilight and its more intresting.

  • This movie is AWESOME - totally blows Twilight out of the water.

  • How can people even compare this to twilight? It's so different!

I wish I'd gone to see this in the Edinburgh film festival in June 'cause as far as I'm concerned those were the only screenings nearby.
