An original song by Peri Urban.
I found the words sandwiched between two old magazines whilst clearing out some junk. I nearly discarded them, but something made me hold on to them.
There are no deserts here
In the heart of this old country
Here lie mountains that were young
When the world was just begun
And the river comes down, always down
Making the same sound, the same old sound
Washing the salt out of the stones
Into the deep ocean where lie the bones
Of dinosaurs and the grave ship
The one that gave us all the slip
And drifted down through all the layers
Of atmosphere and unseen prayers
The flesh of the poet turns to dust
His works veined through with devil rust
We only do the things we must
When all is gone but simple trust
In the weathered rocks of ancient hills
Lie the tombs of Kings who lie there still
They want to rise but never will
Where once the hunter, now the kill
And the river ate the ground
The same old sound, the same old sound
The leaves upon the trees turned brown
Then the trees fell down
Oh, mama are you comin' back to stay this time?
Really enjoyed it man! i really liked all the percussion.
