Very clear instructions. Good pace, too. I use those silicone cupcake forms and a temperature controllable electric skillet from the local thrift store for melting. Tx.

Not certain, check to make sure it is only beeswax. If so I'm just going to hasten to guess that it's okay. If it is yellow, that will influence the color and transparency.

It is easier to melt the Damar and strain that alone then melt the beeswax into it. Also ratios's go 9:1, 8:2, 7:3 it has to add up to 100% to be a formula.

Thanks for the reply. Reed is in the same area that I live so I might give try them.

I am wondering how much medium you get from a 5 lb bag of wax with the 1:8 ratio? About how many muffin tins?

Well, the math says about 5 1/2 pounds. I have never made a batch that big, so I don't know how many muffin tins you'll make, but I'd have plenty on hand to pour into, because it will be quite a bit.

Thanks for the clear instructions . I would also like to know your source for supplies. I have looked at Fineartstore and see the wax and Damar. I did find a source for pharmaceutical grade Beeswax at a cosmetic supply place that is half the price but was unsure if it is too refined. Would you use natural or white beeswax?

I have recently tried Reed Wax. In fact they actually make medium too. Their prices seem good, but after you pay shipping it might not be any better than rfpaints or fineartstore. I use the refined white wax, but not bleached.

Great Tutorial. I was wondering can you buy the finished Damar cakes ready to use? I live in norway and it is hard to get Damar!

I have tried posting a reply to this message a couple of times, but it never seems to show up. Anyway, rfpaints and reed wax both have pre-made medium.
