My dad drew a coveted California bighorn sheep tag for the Aldrich unit near John Day Oregon. The ram was green scored by ODFW at 175 3/8 (176 gross). It's bases were 16 and 15 5/8 and its horn lengths were 36 2/8 and 35 3/8.
The ram was shot twice. The first shot while standing was back a little bit. The second shot hit directly in the shoulder and hit the bottom of the heart and dropped it instantly. A 300 weatherby magnum with 150 gr partition was used.
Special thanks to the Russ, Hunter, Walker, the Brownings, Matt, Jeff and Larry.

Awesome Ram guys!!!! That Aldrich country is rugged! I am still mad the ODFW took away the non-resident tag!!!
Kudos to the Game dept. and organizations like FNAWS for bringing these incredible creatures back from near extinction! Good thing we still have sportsman too look after these herds so they can prosper for future generations. Animal rights groups could learn a thing or two from them for sure...
